About HollywoodUSA.net
A guide to Hollywood’s history and the places where it happened, for visitors, film fans and anyone curious about how a farm town became the movie capital.
What you’ll find here
A history of Hollywood, told as a timeline from the single adobe hut of 1853 to the first studio, the Hollywood sign, Grauman’s Chinese Theatre and the Walk of Fame.
A guide to the Walk of Fame, with a directory of 2,817 stars you can search by name or address and see marked on a map, and a block-by-block map of the boulevard.
117 places to visit in ten sections, from movie palaces, studios and hotels to restaurants, music landmarks, viewpoints and lesser-known sites where history happened. Each has a short history and its own map.
An art gallery of vintage movie posters, premiere scenes and star portraits.
Where the information comes from
The Walk of Fame star locations come from Hollywood USA’s own records, the address lists and block-by-block map kept for the original Hollywood USA site. The history and place descriptions are compiled from public records and published histories of Hollywood.
Places change. Restaurants close, buildings change hands and new stars are added to the Walk most months, so please check opening hours and access before you visit. Our maps are drawn to show where things are in relation to each other, not to scale.
Corrections welcome
If you find a star in the wrong place, a detail we got wrong or a historic spot we should add, please send us a message. Corrections from readers keep the guide accurate.
The art gallery
The Art gallery features artwork from Retro Art World: vintage movie poster reproductions, star portraits and retro-inspired pieces. Prints are sold through Fine Art America, which handles orders, printing and shipping.
An independent guide
HollywoodUSA.net is an independent site. It is not affiliated with the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which administers the Walk of Fame, or with any studio, venue or business listed here. The Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Hollywood Sign are trademarks of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
